I have always wondered how and why we tick the way we do. I was also interested in feeling great, looking for anything that could give me an edge toward that aim. Over the years, I have been fortunate to run across some very smart people, specializing in the field of optimum health, and I've also been good at keeping track of these people as references for my own health and for that of friends who would need help with something on the health front. With the information that I do have, I thought it would be a contribution worth sharing of what I have learned over a long period of time, and with that, here you are.
Enjoy the resources and references to optimum health, and I welcome any ideas for more valuable content, as this is a work in progress. As Wim Hof has been known to say, "Be healthy, strong, and happy." Good words to live by, and I hope this helps you along that path. ~Tim

Having reached the end of my third quarter, and gearing up for my fourth quarter, I wanted to let you know the experience I've had, from youth to now. Born in 1950, it was a time when growing up that if I were sick with something, our family doctor would show up at our doorstep with his black bag with stethoscope to put me on the mend. The medical world was much different then. As a boy, it was colds and sore throats that put me out of commission for a bit, but I always recovered. I was a busy kid, on a swim team from 8, and then little league baseball, and any sports that I could play. I was lucky to have a competitive spirit and go after whatever I could. I discovered boats when at thirteen, I got to spend the summer in Avalon on Catalina Island. As a lucky kid, I persuaded my dad to get a boat. Before I was driving, I was learning how to waterski, and I have since spent years of great times at skiing myself and teaching others.
Some years later, a friend Jerry showed me the importance of enzymes, which I did not know much about, and I was then hooked on a perpetual learning path for good health. The enzymes came from a nutritional networking company, and I became immersed in information about supplements. Around this time, I remember taking a physical for a Bay to Breakers run and talking to the doctor about supplements. He shared that there was a course in medical school on nutrition, but that it was an elective. I was fascinated that I had more knowledge than he on looking after my own health as to nutrition and supplements. That is when my path forward was taking complete responsibility for my own health and carve my own path for optimum wellness. Over years, I have gathered some valuable resources for the best health possible. That has included great practitioners of chiropractic, acupuncture and acupressure, colon hydrotherapy and quantum energetics.
Another discovery of mine while spending time in Catalina was their sprint triathlons every year around Halloween time. For a number of years, I have competed in these. Between years of triathlons and waterskiing, one big consequence of all that was that I wore out my hips. All that I threw at health couldn't fix my hips. Inside of two years ago, I had twin hip replacement by Dr. Christopher Meckel at Monterey Spine and Joint, and I will forever be grateful to him for returning my hips back to full mobility. From the time of surgery, it as though I never had any tightness or discomfort. Pretty much a miracle!
Having spent much time in nature, I've always been so grateful for nature around us. I know that for me, spending time in nature is such a big part of my own health. Because of a project of www.ImageryToLife.com, I gained an understanding of distraction therapy from Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles where I donated my books. Imagery To Life helped in their program of distraction therapy where kids would experience the awe and wonder of nature in my book and distract them from the angst they were dealing with. I then started looking into all the references I could find on the healing power of nature, and that was the beginning of creating a website www.NatureToHealing.com. There you will find quotes on nature and articles to see and talks for you to hear.
Today, there is more information available to us on practices for good health than ever before. Still, it is up to us in discerning what is true or not for us. While I was making my way back from hip replacement, I created this site, pulling together some of my favorite podcasts with in-depth conversations on various topics related to optimum health. Much of this to me is common sense, and yet often easy to take for granted, whether good sleep, exercise or nutrition to name a few. With that in my experiences along my path, some of what I’ve learned and captured my attention is here for you. I put myself out there as an example of a more holistic form of good health practices, with no aches and no prescription drugs, and feeling pretty much as I did in my 30’s. I hope you find that what I have included in this site helpful in some way, and perhaps open a door to something that may be new to you and worth a deeper look.

I have pulled a few special websites that are full of information on holistic health practices to optimize your vitality. There are all kinds of channels to tune into, and I have here for you some of special interest to me.
We’re playing an infinite game here when it comes to our health and vitality. There is no finish line, and you can’t get it wrong, because you’re never done. It is not one and done. It is day after day, consistency the compound effect of daily practices, it brings about your optimum health. What you have a head are cornerstones of what we have control over. They have a common ground of all being within your control.
Putting this into practice...
Here’s a thought for you. Take an idea or practice from one of the subjects of breathing, hydration, sleep, exercise, nutrition, mind, and spirit. You can experience more deliberate breathing through your nose. You could drink a little more water or have more fresh fruits and vegetables for hydration (more on that later). You could experience longer sleep just by going to bed a half hour earlier than your usual. Start if new or extend your time of mindfulness or meditation. You can substitute just one food item you know you could improve upon. Or you could ramp up some aspect of your exercising. Do one thing and see what a difference it can make over a week or a month in each of these areas that’s a little better or a new practice in the day and make it a practice to put these into a habit form of daily improvement and see what happens. What you get beyond the actual practice is the satisfaction you get in taking more personal ownership of how you feel in your own vitality.

This site evolved out of naturetohealing.com, with references to the healing power of nature and the awe and wonder that we get when in nature, all for you in one source. In addition to being out in nature for our own health and well-being, I begin thinking of the other parts of our day-to-day living that we have within our control for in health. And as I have always had a sense of self responsibility for my own health and well-being, there was a lot I realized that was worth sharing. Much of what is shared here is common sense, and yet often taken for granted. But when we do put a focus mindset toward these brilliant gifts of wellness, there’s a great sense of empowerment in taking responsibility for our own health and well-being.
